A Big Surprise

Dukey's Nigerian Adventure

Dukey woke up with a smile on his face. Today was the day for a special embrace. His parents said they had a surprise. Oh, how it made Dukey's excitement rise! They told him they were going to Nigeria, a land so bright. Dukey jumped with joy, his heart felt light. He packed his bag and held it tight.

Dukey boarded the plane with a happy cheer. The journey was long, but he had no fear. He looked out the window at the sky so blue. He wondered what adventures would come into view. He played with his toys and read a book. The hours flew by with every look. Soon, the plane landed, and Dukey was ready to explore.

Dukey stepped off the plane, the air was warm. He felt the sun and it brought no harm. His parents held his hand as they walked through the crowd. The sounds of the city were lively and loud. Dukey heard music that made his feet tap. He saw people dancing, giving each other a clap. The rhythms were catchy, the beats were fast. Dukey joined in, having a blast. He swayed and twirled, feeling so light. The music filled him with pure delight. He danced until the stars came out at night.

Dukey met new friends who spoke Yoruba. They taught him words, it was a great aura. He learned to say 'Bawo ni' which means 'How are you?'. His friends smiled and said 'O da', meaning 'I'm good too'. Dukey practiced and got better each day. He loved learning in a fun and friendly way. Yoruba words made his heart sway.

Dukey saw other children wearing agbadas so bright. The colors were dazzling, a wonderful sight. He asked his parents if he could try one. They got him an agbada, it was so much fun. Dukey and his new friends wore it with pride, feeling so grand. His parents asked Dukey if he wanted a picture to remember his friends by, Dukey squealed; "yes" and then was a little sad because he'd have to say bye.

Dukey heard drums that made his heart race. He saw drummers playing at a lively pace. He asked if he could give it a try. They handed him a drum, and he felt so high. He tapped the drum and felt the beat. The sound was strong, it was really neat. Dukey drummed with joy, feeling the heat.

Dukey met more friends who spoke Igbo. They taught him words, making his mind grow. He learned to say 'Kedu' which means 'Hello'. His friends smiled and said 'O di mma', meaning 'I'm good, you know'. Dukey practiced and got better each day. He loved learning in a fun and friendly way. Igbo words made his heart sway.

Dukey went to a market, full of sights. There were fruits and spices, colors so bright. He tasted new foods and loved them all. The market was big, he felt so small. He bought a toy drum and a colorful hat. The people were kind, and they loved to chat. Dukey felt happy, just like that.

Dukey's parents took him to a festival grand. There were dances and music, it was so planned. Dukey joined in with a joyful cheer. The festival was the highlight of his year. He danced and sang with all his might. The night was filled with pure delight. Dukey's heart felt so light.
