John Jr and Vasi's Garden

John Jr and Vasi watched a show about gardening. It really sparked their interest. John Jr asked his mom if he and Vasi could plant a garden in the backyard. She agreed and found a how-to book on gardening for John Jr and Vasi.

John Jr got some of his allowance money. He and Vasi went to the store. At the store, they purchased cucumber, pepper, cantaloupe, radish, and lettuce seeds. They were excited to start their garden.

John Jr and Vasi had to prep the ground for their garden. They tilled the soil to a depth of about 10 inches. They added fertilizer to enrich the soil. They leveled the garden bed and watered the soil well. They let it settle for a few days.

A few days passed, and John Jr and Vasi were ready to plant. They poked holes for the seeds. They placed the seeds and covered them with dirt. After planting, they gave a nice watering to their garden.

John Jr and Vasi looked after and watered their garden daily. A few weeks went by, and there were some buds sprouting. A few more weeks later, there were fruits and vegetables starting to form. They were very excited to see their hard work paying off.

As summer was closing in, the fruits and veggies were ripe and abundant. John Jr and Vasi went out to the garden and picked all the fruits and vegetables. There was so much that they gave Granny and a few neighbors some of their harvest. John Jr's mom gave him and Vasi some cut-up cucumber and cantaloupe. They really enjoyed it.

John Jr and Vasi decided to share more of their harvest. They made little baskets of veggies and fruits. They delivered these baskets to more neighbors. Everyone was happy and thanked them for their kindness.

John Jr and Vasi talked about their garden. They were proud of what they had grown. They decided to plan an even bigger garden for next year. They knew it would be a lot of work, but they were ready for the challenge.
