Dreams of the Court
The Dream
Jeremy watched the basketball game on TV, his eyes sparkling with excitement. He imagined himself on the court, dribbling past defenders and scoring the winning basket. 'I want to play basketball,' he whispered to himself, clutching a makeshift paper ball. But he worried about what his family would say.

At dinner, Jeremy mustered the courage to speak up. 'Dad, I want to join the school basketball team,' he said, his voice shaky. Dad looked surprised, then thoughtful. 'Basketball? But we thought you'd follow in the family tradition of soccer,' Dad replied gently.

Feeling disheartened, Jeremy went to his room. Later, Tommy, his best friend, called. 'I heard about your basketball dream. Let's practice together!' Tommy offered enthusiastically. Jeremy felt a glimmer of hope. Maybe, with Tommy's support, he could prove his dedication.

The next day, Jeremy and Tommy practiced at the local court. Jeremy struggled at first, but Tommy encouraged him. 'Keep trying, Jeremy! You'll get better,' Tommy said, passing the ball. By the end of the day, Jeremy made his first basket. He felt a rush of joy.

Dad watched Jeremy and Tommy from afar, seeing the joy and determination on Jeremy's face. That evening, Dad sat down with Jeremy. 'I saw you playing today. You really love basketball, don't you?' Dad asked, smiling. 'Yes, more than anything!' Jeremy replied, his eyes shining.

Dad nodded, his decision made. 'Then I'll support you. Let's get you signed up for the team and buy the gear you need.' Jeremy couldn't believe his ears. He hugged his dad, grateful and excited. 'Thank you, Dad! You won't regret this,' he exclaimed, already dreaming of his first game.

The day of the big game arrived. Jeremy felt nervous but ready. With his family and Tommy cheering from the sidelines, he played with all his heart. He even scored a key basket, helping his team win. Jeremy realized that with passion and support, dreams do come true.

After the game, Jeremy's family celebrated his success. 'You were amazing out there,' Dad said, proud. Jeremy smiled, feeling accomplished and loved. He knew this was just the beginning of his basketball journey. With his family's support, he was ready for any challenge.
