The Great Depression

John Jr and Yuēhàn were best friends. One day, they heard about a time called the Great Depression. They wanted to know more about it. So, they decided to investigate.

John Jr and Yuēhàn found out that the Great Depression happened in the 1930s. It was a tough time for many people. They learned that this period followed World War I. Many people were out of work, hungry, or homeless.

The friends discovered that the Great Depression affected many countries. It started with a sharp decline in stock prices in the United States. This led to the Wall Street stock market crash in October 1929. The whole world faced economic hardships.

John Jr and Yuēhàn learned about bank failures. Many people lost their savings. The economy suffered greatly. Some people still don't trust banks because of this.

The demand for goods went down. Many businesses had to close. People lost their jobs. It was a very sad time.

John Jr and Yuēhàn found out about a place called the Dust Bowl. It was in the Great Plains. Farmers couldn't grow enough crops. The land was too dry.

The Great Depression spread to other countries. International trade declined. Many people around the world were affected. It was a global crisis.

John Jr and Yuēhàn felt sad for the children of the Great Depression. Many kids didn't have enough food, clothes, or a home. Some had to quit school to work. It made John Jr and Yuēhàn appreciate what they had.
