The Legend of Lung Yeuk Tau by Chan Zai

My name is Chan Zai. I was born in a walled village of the Tang clan in Lung Yeuk Tau. This village has a history of over 500 years. I have been filled with curiosity and pride for this land since I was young.

I was born in the auspicious old walled village. I often gaze at the lush green mountains in the distance. The meandering Wutong River adds to the charm of this land. Our ancestors chose this site carefully.

The sturdy high walls of blue bricks were built by our ancestors. These walls defended against pirate attacks. They also provided a cool shelter from the heat. The narrow village gate served its defensive purpose well.

Beside the gate, there is an ancient well. This well is a vital water source for the villagers. It ensures water security when enemies approach. The well has been here for centuries.

As I walk into the village, I see neatly arranged houses. The houses are hidden beneath the greenery. They exude an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. The village feels like a safe haven.

The ancestral hall towers into the clouds. Inside, there are dragon-head wood carvings and crane reliefs. These showcase the profound historical and cultural heritage of the Tang clan. The hall is a place of great reverence.

During major festivals, the villagers actively participate. They ring the ancient bronze bell in unison. They pray for the blessings of our ancestors. The festivals are filled with joy and tradition.

I especially love to visit the Tin Hau Temple. After lighting an incense stick, I listen to the miraculous stories of the Goddess of Heaven. I also hear stories of the Earth God. I hope they will bless me with safety and health.

The nearby Chong Him Hall is also a favorite of mine. It is filled with countless memories from my childhood. I often play there with my friends. The hall holds a special place in my heart.

Every time I step into this familiar historic site, I feel fortunate. I am so lucky to be born in such a place rich in history and culture. I will study hard to inherit the wisdom of my ancestors. I want to ensure this treasured land is passed down through generations.

Our ancestors were wise and brave. They built this village with great care and thought. I want to learn from their wisdom. I hope to make them proud.
