Feeling Overwhelmed

when I need a Break

In Miss Diana's kindergarten class, everyone was busy with their activities. Sally was coloring, Jordan was building with blocks, and Johnny was reading a book. Suddenly, Sally felt her heart racing and her hands shaking. She didn't know why she felt so overwhelmed. Miss Diana noticed and gently asked, 'Sally, do you need a break?'

Sally nodded and Miss Diana led her to the cozy corner. 'It's okay to feel this way, Sally,' Miss Diana said softly. Sally took deep breaths and hugged a soft teddy bear. After a few minutes, she felt much better. Miss Diana reminded her, 'Always tell an adult when you need a break.'

One day, Johnny felt upset because he couldn't solve a puzzle. Jordan noticed and asked, 'Do you need a break, Johnny?' Johnny nodded, and Jordan walked with him to the cozy corner. They practiced deep breathing together until Johnny felt calm. 'Thank you, Jordan,' Johnny said with a smile.

Ms. Debra visited the class to talk about big emotions. She helped the kids learn how to take deep breaths, go for walks, or take breaks in the calm corner when they felt overwhelmed. 'Remember, it's okay to ask for help,' Ms. Debra said. The children practiced these techniques and felt proud of their new skills. They knew they could handle their big emotions with a little help.
