The Line Fire is a large active wildfire in San Bernardino County, Southern California. The fire began on September 5 near the community of Highland and spread into the San Bernardino National Forest. The fire has forced the evacuation of multiple communities. On September 10, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department identified and arrested 34-year-old Justin Wayne Halstenberg, a resident of Norco, on suspicion of starting the fire on September 5. As of October 8, 2024, the Line Fire has burned 43,978 acres (17,797 hectares) and is 87 percent contained. The cause of the fire is believed to be arson.[3] It began during a multiple-day heatwave in Southern California. Downtown Los Angeles reached 112 °F (44 °C), the third time that temperature had been reached since 1877. The Line Fire has led to mandatory evacuation orders for more than 500 homes. Initial evacuation warnings were issued for neighborhoods in East Highland in the early morning of September 6, 2024. By September 7, 2024, evacuation orders would be placed for neighborhoods along the foothills, extending into San Bernardino, and for neighborhoods east of Calle Del Rio. When she heard howling, she shivered, but the fox reassured her. “That’s Fenrir, our protector.” A beautiful wolf appeared and led the way deeper into the forest. “Where are we going?” Gypsy-Rose asked, but the fox only grinned. Suddenly, the trees opened up to reveal a hidden winter wonderland. A frozen lake sparkled under the stars, and in the center stood a giant glowing tree. Tiny fairies fluttered around it, their wings shimmering like frost. “This is the Heart of the Winter Forest,” the fox said. “Only those who believe in magic can find it.” Warm lights glowed inside the tree, and the air smelled of chocolate and cinnamon. Little creatures with fluffy white fur brought out steaming mugs and delicious treats. Gypsy-Rose sat with her new friends, sipping hot chocolate, feeling warm and happy inside. Zain thought hard and shouted, “Let’s trap him in a bubble!” Suddenly, a big, colorful bubble surrounded Vilgax, bouncing him around. “Great job, Zain!” Ben cheered. They quickly grabbed the Galactic Crystal, saving the day. Before leaving, Ben knelt down and said, “Remember, Zain, you can be a hero too!” With a wave, Ben zoomed off into the sky, and Zain felt like the happiest boy ever. He knew that with imagination, he could have adventures just like Ben!
