the main character is a little girl named Averi. She is 11 years old, she has brown skin and big brown eyes, her hair is brown and curly styled in to pigtails. She is dressed in a pink skirt, white shoes, and a white top. Averi's favorite thing to do is play the guitar. There are no recurring side characters. The setting in the beginning of the book is an old, run-down village that Averi lives in. The art style should be cartoony but also realistic in some ways. In the book, Averi is seen in her village playing an old guitar but she's still happy because she loves making music. Next, Averi is in her Grandmother's old attic looking for toys when she comes across a chest. She opens the chest and inside is an antique guitar with whimsical and colorful engravings on it. She takes the guitar and starts playing it only to realize that the music is magical. The music makes the dead flowers out the window start to bloom, makes the birds start to sing, and makes the sun shine brighter. The tune then carries out the window of the attic and some of the passing villagers hear it and get put into good moods. People come from far and wide to hear Averi play the magic guitar and the village begins to turn more colorful and lively as a result. Then, one day a terrible drought goes through the village causing all the farmers to be sad. The farmers ask Averi to come and play her magic guitar to see if it might make their crops start to grow again. Averi then goes to play the guitar at a farm and all of a sudden it starts to rain down on all the crops causing them to all magically revive and grow. The villagers all cheer and dance to her music. From that day on, Averi uses her magic to bring joy and hope to everyone she meets.

The Secret of the Singing Island

Lily loved to play. She loved to jump rope, swing high on the swings, and bounce her ball. One thing Lily did not like to do was run. "It's boring!" she'd groan whenever her mom suggested a jog in the park. "I'd rather stay home and read."
One sunny afternoon, Lily was playing in her room. Her favorite pair of bright pink sneakers sat by the door just waiting to be worn. Suddenly, with a mischievous glint in their eyes, the sneakers hopped off the floor and skipped towards the window!
Lily gasped. "My shoes! Stop!" she cried, but the sneakers were already out the window and were bouncing down the street. Lily raced after them, her heart pounding. She chased them down the sidewalk and around the corner until she was out of breath.
"Come back!" she yelled, her voice echoing through the neighborhood. The sneakers, however, were having the time of their lives. They bounced past beautiful flower gardens, dodged around playful puppies, and they even slid down a hill.
Lily, huffing and puffing, finally caught up to her runaway shoes. She scooped them up, feeling a strange tingling sensation in her legs. "You silly shoes! You can’t just run away! I don’t like to run and you made me chase you. You made me feel SO tired!" she said.
Her mom, who had been watching from the window, chuckled. "Looks like you're having fun. Can I join you?” she asked. Lily, surprised by how much fun she was having running, decided to keep going and said “yes, let’s go”.

The Runaway Shoes

On a sunny day in a small village, a little boy named Tim built a colorful kite with his father. The kite was red and yellow with long, flowing ribbons. Tim was excited to fly it during the town’s Kite Festival, but the kite had other thoughts. “I’m too scared to fly high,” said the kite in a tiny whisper as Tim held the string. “What if I get lost in the clouds?” Tim smiled and whispered back, “Don’t worry, little kite. I’ll hold the string tightly. You’ll never be alone.” As Tim ran across the field, the wind lifted the kite into the air. At first, it wobbled and shook, frightened of the height. But as it soared higher, the kite saw the beauty of the world—the sparkling river, green hills, and children laughing below. “This isn’t so scary after all!” the kite said. It started dancing in the wind, twirling and swooping. Tim laughed, cheering it on. The kite even spotted an eagle soaring nearby. “Hello, brave kite!” the eagle said. “You’re flying like a champion!” By the end of the festival, Tim’s kite won a ribbon for “Most Spirited Flyer.” As the sun set, the kite whispered, “Thank you, Tim, for believing in me. I’m not afraid anymore.” Tim smiled, “We make a great team, little kite.” And from that day on, the kite never feared the sky again. The end.

His friend Omar was great at painting, Ahmad could run faster than anyone, and Anas played the violin beautifully. Ali would watch them and wonder, “What am I good at?”
Ali returned to the village, feeling proud. When Granny Muna saw him, she smiled warmly and said, “Did you find your treasure, Ali?”
He replied, “I did. My treasure is helping others.”
Granny Muna said, “That is a gift greater than any gold. You see, the real treasure is discovering what makes you you.”
One day, the village elder, a wise old woman named Granny Muna, called all the children together. She had exciting news: "In the forest, there is a hidden treasure, but this treasure is different. It’s something that only you can find. Each of you will discover something special about yourselves."
The children were excited and ran into the forest, eager to find the treasure. Ali followed, but he wasn’t sure where to look. As they searched, Omar found a shiny rock and painted a beautiful picture of the forest. Ahmad discovered a tall hill and raced to the top, faster than anyone else. Anas found a fallen branch and played a lovely tune on his violin. But Ali wandered, unsure of what treasure he was supposed to find.
Just as he was about to give up, Ali heard a faint sound. It was a tiny bird, trapped in a thorny bush, chirping for help. Without thinking twice, Ali knelt down and carefully freed the little bird from the thorns. The bird fluttered its wings and sang a sweet melody of thanks before flying off.
Suddenly, Ali realized something: he had a special talent too! He was kind and gentle, and he knew how to help others. Even though it wasn’t something he could see or hold, it was a treasure deep inside him.

Emma lives in Scarborough with her single mother. They live in an apartment building. Her mom does 2 jobs to make ends meet, however with high rent and cost of living, theyhardly have enough money for food. So one day, along with her mom, Emma goes to the local foodbank that is run by Feed Scarborough. At the foodbank, while Emma was waiting in one corner reading some fun books, while her mom was shopping at the foodbank, Emma saw a racoon walking around, playing with an apple.
Emma started talking with the Racoon. Racoon told Emma that his name is Dignity, and the apple is his friend, named Hope.
Dignity told emma all about food insecurity in our community and that she is not the only one who comes to the foodbank. Feed Scarborough's foodbanks are set up like a grocery store, so her mom can pick and choose the food that Emma likes.
Dignity also told Emma about so many children, who are not having enough food to eat nowadays as times are tough.
Dignity told Emma that better days are coming soon as Toronto's Mayor and Canada's Prime Minister is working together to have better food in school so no children need to study in empty stomach.
As dignity was telling Emma these stories, suddenly Emma heard her Mom's voice, calling out to her. As she turned towards the door, she saw her mom asking her to come with her so they can leave the foodbank. As Emma turned back, Dignity and Hope was nowhere to be seen.
Was Dignity and Hope real? Were they really there telling Emma the story or were they franction of her imagination, as on the wall, there was a poster of Dignity and Hope (which are the mascots of Feed Scarborough.

3. Karmie skipped into the kitchen, where her breakfast waited for her. The smell of pancakes made her tummy rumble. She liked the way her chair fit just right at the table, and how the window let in the morning light.
4. After breakfast, it was time for some cartoons. Karmie settled onto the big, soft couch in the living room, hugging her dog, Reese, close. She loved this room, where she could cuddle up and watch her favorite shows.
5. It was time for Karmie and Reese to go outside. The trees were tall. Reese wagged his tail as they walked by the park, where Karmie played with her friends.
6.That night, her adults sat down with her. “Karmie,” they said, “we have some exciting news! We’re going to move to a new home soon.” Karmie felt her heart skip.
7. She held Reese's leash tightly as they walked to the moving truck. “I hope I like the new house,” she whispered to Reese.
8. When they arrived at the new house, Karmie took a deep breath and stepped inside. First, she saw her new bedroom. It was different, but still cozy, and her purple blanket was already on the bed.
9. In the new bathroom, her sparkly toothbrush was waiting by the sink, just like before. The kitchen smelled like pancakes, and Karmie noticed the sunlight pouring in through the windows, just like her old home.
10. That night she snuggled into her new bed. She still had her favorite things, her dog Reese, and most importantly, her family. “I think I’m going to love it here,” Karmie whispered, closing her eyes with a smile.
11. Karmie learned that even though she loved her old home, in her new home, she felt safe and happy, just like before.
