Mom and Dad’s incredible journey begins in Portugal, where they meet in 2019 at a 3D design course—Mom was 28 and teaching interior design classes, and Dad, 27, was dreaming of becoming an architect in Canada. In 2021, during the pandemic, they find a farm in Salmon Arm, BC, where they work in exchange for food and shelter, making their dream of moving to Canada a reality. Mom even adopts two lambs from the farm! They make many wonderful friends in Salmon Arm, and four months later, with a trusty Pontiac Aztec, they find jobs in Vancouver and Abbotsford and settle in Surrey. On May 28, 2022, they get married on a beautiful farm in Salmon Arm, surrounded by both their families and friends. Two years later, they become permanent residents and buy a cozy apartment near Gateway Station in Surrey in 2023. By 2024, their lives take a magical turn—Mom is pregnant! On October 24, baby David is born, a healthy 4.5 kg bundle of joy. Mom’s parents fly in from Portugal to help, while Dad’s parents adore David from afar.
